Halo ODST Review

| First off, I HATE first person shooter games, (Left4Dead, Call of Duty, Halo, ect.) but seeing as this was one of the only ones WORTH reviewing, I figured I might as well try it. At first I was actually surprised by the smooth game play of it all: the shots fired where they were supposed to most of the time and people you played as weren't too bad of characters to play as. Since the day changes, as well as the soundtracks, it actually allowed you to feel the lonliness of the man you're playing. Then I hit the battles. The enemies are pumped up with new tactics, smarter shots and a lot of ass kicking attitude. Your AI (if you look on the bottom) would probably read "made in Thailand by P.O.S. Enterprise" !!!!! At one point, I was trying to drive a Warthog through a couple of enemies, when I realized the dumbass is in the side seat with a FUCKIN PISTOL OUT while the huge, fully functional GUN TURRET in the back was crying from lonliness! Although the ghost is very fun, which allowed me to make my way through an entire level by just running over EVERYTHING in my path...things went flat *happy panda face* The enemies are suicidal grunts, sniper shooting jackals and shielded brutes, overall: not fun. I died MULTIPLE times, in order to figure out where most of the sniping was coming from as I was head shotted 2 times in a friggen GHOST! The new race in the game that wasn't even in HALO 3. It was introduced in ODST basically as the enslaved race of the Covanentm which were actually very helpful little "techno nerds" that exploded on the embrace of death. It was entertaining when I lost one. XP The new routes are also very helpful as you make your way past snipers and other fights while running low on health, but it takes most of the joy of the game out of actually playing it. Why play a shooting game without the shooting? All in all, it was actually a good game as far as 1st person shooters go, but (unlike in the rest of the HALO games) whatever you do, don't try jumping off high places because in this game. You actually take damage from it now. I give this game an A-, could deal with a feew adjustments, but a good game all the same. ~Negi |
