Geeky Pets

Just in case you have been wondering, “What can I do with this little bit of left over money I have that will also give a little bit of companionship?” I have just made a list of the top ten geeky pets, and why they’re great!!!

10: Dog / Cat

Ok I know your saying, “Dogs? Cats? Everyone has those. How are they geeky at all?”
But it is only the geeks that give their pooch the name of Gygax (the maker of D&D).

Or name there cat after an ancient pagan goddess.
Plus with the addition of icanhascheezburger.com we can truly see how geeky cat lovers can be!!!

9: Rats

Now it takes a special kind of person to get a rat in the first place. But they have a special place in the geek’s heart due to years of fantasy wizards having them in their labs.

And of course the great Harry Potter’s best friend had one for a long time, well till it turned out to be an evil little bad guy!

8: Ferrets

Or as I like to call them ELEMENTS OF CHAOS!!!!!

These things are crazy!!! And therefore geek magnets!!! Cute little wiggly nut buckets!

7: Lizards

Lizards have a special place in my heart. When I was younger, I used to breed American Anoles. I would set up all my Star Wars figures and set my pet lizards loose so they could run through and be in the battles. It was always fun! One thing I learned when I got older was that I was not the only geek that did this!!!

6: Snake

My wife and I got a snake when we first started dating. They are great pets. Easy to take care of, fun to handle, and great to keep your mother-in-law away ^_^! Anyway, geeks tend to be called to snakes for different reasons. But the reason I got one: they’re neat, as sad as it is. They really are just fun to have.

5: Tarantula

Tarantulas may not be geeky per-say. But they are creepy. And for some reason geeks are attracted to creepy things. Also, a lot of geeks are just plan creepy.

4: Scorpion

Like tarantulas, scorpions have the creepy vibe down. Yet they kind of take it to a whole new level. Not only is it a pet that is creepy and odd, but it can kill you in a single swipe of its tail. HOW COOL IS THAT!!! Also, how many awesome bad guys have been named Scorpion?

3: Ravens / Crows

To quote the raven “Nevermore”  will a person who owns one of these birds be considered normal. Due to the raven and crow taking up more than their fair share of myths, stories, and kick-ass revenge plots, they are at number three on our list.

2: Tamagotchi / Giga pets

Oh don’t we all remember the good times of spending time with our beloved pets. Playing, walking, and feeding. Always sitting in class poking at a two inch piece of plastic. These little bundles of joy became the hot item for quite a bit. Taking up all of everyone’s time and always hanging around people’s neck or hooked to their keys.

1: Fan boys / Otaku

Something about geek girls just attracts fan boys. Ok well I think we all know what it is. But geek girls also just have a way of collecting “worshipers” that will just be at their beck and call. Thus is why fan boys have become our number one pet.
